1. Tipping is not obligatory in Iceland as it is usually included in the prices. Although it might by greatly appreciated where you feel it is deserved.
2. It is safe to drink the water straight from the tab anywhere in the country. In every restaurant water is served free of charge.
3. You can use credit card almost everywhere in Iceland, even in the taxi.
4. Than you are waiting at your hotel for the tour pick up, please make sure that you are going with right company. According to our experience, people are getting confused sometimes and jumping to the wrong bus as where are several companies picking up at the same times but for the different tours or for the same tour but with different price from one which you have booked. Just wait for the one you have booking with.
5. Icelandic electrical standards are European (50Hz, 240 volts) so many North American electrical devices will require converts. Plugs are generally two-pin, so devices brought in from the UK and North America will require adapters.
6. Night life really starts after midnight on weekends. Because of the high prices on the alcohol we are finishing few drinks at home before moving ahead. Town gets packed by 1 a.m. and lines forming by the clubs. Generally the cost of the drinks about the same in bars and clubs, difference could be ISK.100-200. Some places have specials and happy hours.
